Gourmet Christmas Gifts

The Contents of a Gourmet Christmas Hamper

The gourmet Christmas hampers here are organised around the deli side of the food we buy.

The salmon is artisan smoked organic Irish salmon from Ummera and Ewings. The ham comes from Brady's Family, the charcuterie from Connemara Fine Foods, and regional delicacies come from differing parts of Europe to provide a touch of the exotic every year. Farmhouse cheese comes from BandonVale and Carrigaline, with the oatcakes, savoury biscuits and chutney that belong beside it, from Crossogue and Filligans. Silver and green olives sit alongside.

Around that deli core the traditional anchors are present as they are throughout our range, and the sweet side carries chocolate from Butler's, Willies Cacao and Skelligs. A gourmet Christmas hamper is a complete Christmas hamper with a serious gourmet food centre.   It isn't a cheese board in a box, but a Luxury Gourmet Hamper with a strong central core.

The Cold Pack and the Date on the Outside

This is the part of the operation worth understanding, because it explains everything else about this section.

A gourmet Christmas hamper containing salmon or ham travels with a cold pack. The largest hams require a cold box. The hamper is opened at the final stage, the cold pack is added, and the date it was packed in our warehouse is written on the outside, so the person receiving it can see exactly how long the contents have been travelling and satisfy themselves that they are good to eat.

None of that can be done in advance. A gourmet Christmas hamper of this kind cannot be pre-packed, cannot be boxed early and cannot be scaled, because the cold element has to go in at the last possible moment. It sounds like a small addition. In a warehouse working at full stretch in the final ten days of December, it is the single most demanding thing we do.

Delivery of Gourmet Christmas Hampers

Because the contents are perishable, we do not use the cheapest carriers for these Christmas hampers, and that is a deliberate cost we absorb.

Three or four days in transit is not acceptable for food of this kind, so these gourmet Christmas hampers are dispatched on an overnight service. The reasoning is simple: if something goes wrong on the day, the following day is not a disaster. The hamper is still in good order. Once you accept a slower service you have no margin at all, and the first problem becomes the customer's problem.

Everything is prepared in our own premises and we stay accountable for the order the whole way, with tracking and real people who step in when something needs attention. The final leg to the doorstep is carrier-operated, as it is for everybody.

The Cap on Our Gourmet Christmas Hampers

Here is the constraint that shapes this section, and we would rather set it out than let you discover it in December.

We deliberately limit how many perishable gourmet Christmas hampers we dispatch each season. This season the gourmet hampers carrying salmon and ham are capped at less than ten percent of everything we send. Ten years ago that figure was closer to a quarter, and we were younger then. At around one in ten the packing operation becomes tight.  There is a risk that we might fail, but the risk is mitigated by experience and skill derived from experience; at the level we work in 2026 it remains tight but manageable, provided staff are reliable and directors stay healthy.

That cap is why availability on this page closes earlier than anywhere else, and it is a real operational limit rather than a scarcity we invented for effect. We would rather make fewer gourmet Christmas hampers properly than accept orders we cannot dispatch with certainty.

Gourmet Christmas Hampers and Named Day Delivery

A straight answer on the question we are asked most in December.

Named day delivery is not something we can offer in the final fortnight before Christmas, on any Christmas hamper, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. The volume moving through the network at that point makes a specific date impossible to guarantee, and everybody sending a gift that week has the same wish. What we can do is dispatch on an overnight service, keep you informed, and be reachable if something needs attention.

If a gourmet Christmas hamper has to arrive within a particular window, the answer is to order early rather than to specify a date late.

The Difficulty Is the Point

Very few companies offer gourmet Christmas hampers carrying salmon, and it is worth saying plainly why.

It is not a matter of sourcing. It is that the volume of work required to turn perishable hampers around in the last two weeks of the year is extremely difficult to absorb, and the failure mode is a customer receiving food that has been too long in transit. We took that work on because the gourmet food justifies it, and because a gourmet Christmas hamper without the salmon is a different and lesser thing.

That is the confidence this section is meant to give you. Not that perishable gifting is easy, but that we understand exactly how hard it is, have built the operation around it, and have capped it at the level we can genuinely deliver.

Gourmet Christmas Hampers for Christmas 2026

For Christmas 2026 the range carries pistachio through the sweet side, with Dubai chocolate, dates and walnuts in the confectionery.

The deli core of our gourmet Christmas hampers does not change from year to year. Salmon, ham, duck and cheese are what this section is, and the annual adjustment happens around them so that a repeat order is recognisable without being identical. Each product page lists its contents in full, item by item, which on this page is particularly worth reading because the perishable components determine how the hamper travels.

The Gourmet Christmas Hampers Built as Open Baskets

Not everything in this section is a lidded hamper, and the distinction is worth drawing before you choose.

Several gourmet Christmas hampers are built in the open basket format, where the food is arranged visibly and does its own decorating from the moment the door opens. The Gourmet Xmas and Gourmet Cheese sit there, along with Xmas Cheese and Wine, Savoury Xmas and the Big Savoury Xmas. Those belong to the part of our range we judge on being fancier, artistic and beautiful, and for a recipient who takes food seriously the open format puts the provenance on display rather than hiding it under a lid.

The lidded gourmet Christmas hampers work the other way, concealing and then revealing. Both carry the same deli standard. Choose by the arrival you want.

The Future of Our Gourmet Christmas Hampers

We would rather be straight about the direction of travel on this page, because it affects what you can expect in coming years.

The demand for perishable Christmas hampers is real and is probably larger than what we currently supply. The constraint is not appetite, ours or yours. It is the capacity of a small team to handle fresh food properly in the final fortnight of the year, and we have chosen to cap the work at the level we can do well rather than stretch it to the level the market would take.

That may change. It is a genuine area of growth and we have not closed the door on expanding it. For Christmas 2026, though, what you see is what we can stand over, and we would sooner tell you that plainly than take an order we are not confident of.

Choosing a Gourmet Christmas Hamper

Three things decide it.

Whether the recipient will be at home to receive perishable food, since these Christmas hampers are best not left waiting. Whether the destination is straightforward, since deliveries to Europe, the Highlands and remoter addresses carry more risk with perishable contents and the European cut off falls earlier. And how much of the deli side is wanted, since some gourmet Christmas hampers are built around salmon and ham while others centre on cheese and keep longer.

If perishable contents would not suit the recipient or the address, several gourmet Christmas hampers here carry no fresh food at all, and our Traditional Christmas Hampers section holds a wide choice that travels without any special handling.

Gourmet Christmas Hampers as Business Gifts

Corporate senders order from this section for the recipients who genuinely care about food, and the same constraints apply.

The cap means gourmet Christmas hampers are the lines most likely to be unavailable late in the season, so a corporate order involving them should be settled early. Where a company is sending to several addresses, arranging the order with us directly lets us look at the destinations as a set and flag any that carry risk for perishable contents before they become a problem. Our Corporate Christmas Hampers section covers the rest of those arrangements.

Ordering Gourmet Christmas Hampers Before the December Cut Off

We dispatch for Christmas 2026 up to 22 December for the United Kingdom and Ireland, stock permitting, and 15 December for European deliveries.

On this page the qualification carries more weight than anywhere else in the range. The perishable cap means these gourmet Christmas hampers sell out earliest, and once the allocation is committed we close the line rather than take an order we cannot honour.

Ordering in October or November costs you nothing, secures the hamper you actually want, and gives us the time to plan the cold packing properly instead of at the last moment.

How does perishable food arrive in good condition?

Each hamper carrying salmon or ham travels with a cold pack, and the largest hams travel in a cold box. The pack goes in at the final stage rather than in advance, and the date we packed it is written on the outside so the recipient can see exactly how long the contents have been in transit. We also dispatch these hampers on an overnight service rather than a cheaper multi-day one, so a delay does not become a problem.

Can I choose the delivery date?

Not in the final fortnight before Christmas, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. The volume moving through the delivery network at that point makes a named day impossible to guarantee on any hamper. What we can do is dispatch on an overnight service and stay reachable if anything needs attention. If timing is critical, ordering early is the reliable answer.

Why do gourmet hampers sell out before the rest of the range?

Because we cap them deliberately. Perishable hampers cannot be pre-packed or prepared in advance, so each one adds work at the busiest possible moment. We limit them to a small proportion of everything we dispatch, which is the level we can genuinely fulfil to standard. Once that allocation is committed we close the line rather than accept an order we cannot honour.

What is the salmon exactly?

Artisan smoked organic Irish salmon, from Ummera. We describe it that way because that is what it is, and we do not describe a format or a weight that the product does not carry. Each product page lists precisely what is included in that hamper. If you need to know more before ordering, contact us and we will tell you.

Is a gourmet hamper suitable for delivery to Europe or a remote address?

It needs more thought than other sections. Perishable contents carry more risk over longer journeys, and the European cut off falls earlier than the United Kingdom one. For a remote address or a European destination we would usually suggest a hamper without fresh contents, and several here qualify. Contact us if you are unsure and we will give you an honest answer rather than take the order regardless.

When is the order deadline for Christmas 2026?

22 December for the United Kingdom and Ireland, stock permitting, and 15 December for Europe. On this page availability closes well before those dates because of the perishable cap. Ordering in October or November secures the hamper you want and lets us plan the cold packing properly rather than at the last minute.
