Although Christmas still seems like a long way off, it's an all year round job here at BasketsGalore as it's our biggest, busiest time of year.We have a core number of products that are firm favourites and are included in our Christmas Hampers every year, including organic smoked salmon, Ditty's Bakery luxurious mince pies and Christmas pudding, creamy Irish cheese selections and traditional carved ham. However we also like to add new and exciting products as we gets lots of repeat custom and so need to keep things interesting for them. Last year we added a new iced fruit cake and a choice of antipasta. On Friday we received some samples of snacks from Chaucer Foods, who represent a number of producers it seems. These were Focaccia fingers flavoured with Rosemary & Sea Salt, Bruschetta Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil flavoured bread pieces and a selection of multi-grain snacks all advertised as a healthier alternative to crisps. This gave us a great excuse to carry out a taste test - we all love doing this! The taste test was blind, in that no-one knew what flavour they were tasting and they had to guess the flavours & then pick a favourite of each snack type. Most people taking part were able to correctly guess the flavours and some had preconceived ideas as to which product they would prefer. However, there were some  instances of these ideas being altered as an old favourite flavour was out-done by one of the newer ones. This was particularly true of the Tomato & Basil Bruschetta bites as this actually come out as top choice.blind taste testThe Taste Testing Results:1st Place ) Tomato & Basil Bruschetta2nd Place) Cheese & Onion, Smokey Bacon (joint)3rd Place ) Pickled Onion, Rosemary & Sea Salt Focaccia (joint)One of our taste testers, Kate, liked all 7 snacks! She couldn't pick a favourite, saying she could easily eat a whole packet of any of them. All the taste testers picked different favourite combinations except for 2 of the Directors (Lynne & Andrea) who both picked pickled onion and the focaccia! All in all we decided that these products are more fun & snacky so aren't really suitable for our Luxury Christmas Hampers. We receive samples of so many products it is impossible to include them all unfortunately, however they have been added to the list for potential inclusion in our fun, sharing gift baskets instead or in the 'Create Your Own' section.
