As you've probably heard us harping on about, we like to support local and artisan producers by including their handcrafted, luxury items in our gift baskets and hampers. We do also include some big brand names, but the artisan producers help to make our offering unique. One thing you have to take into consideration when purchasing from smaller suppliers or purchasing specialist items, is that it takes time for them to produce large orders as they don't benefit from economies of scale. Many smaller producers make everything by hand and then package them by hand too, so all in all it's a time consuming process. This attention to detail and smaller batches results in a higher quality, great tasting product. One product that takes a particularly long time to produce is chutney. We need to place our big Christmas order with our chutney suppliers as early as Spring time, so as they can schedule our order into their production plans & leave themselves enough manufacturing time.We currently purchase chutney and relishes from 3 different suppliers, who all happen to be based around Ireland, so as we can offer our customers a variety of flavours and types.Filligan's, Donegal - We love their Cucumber Relish and Peach & Cardamom ChutneyCrossogue, Tipperary - We love the Country Fruit Chutney and Red Pepper & Sweetcorn RelishJanet's Country Fayre, Wicklow - We love the Beetroot Blush Chutney, Chutney For Cheese & Wine and Red Onion Marmalade.file_82_1   Filligans Cucumber Relish CroppedBeetroot-Blush200Chutney and Relish makes a wonderful addition to not only Christmas hampers, but our all year round range too as it goes perfectly with cheese, crackers and wine. You can also choose to add one or two varieties if you create your own savoury gift basket.
