BasketsGalore's Christmas Day Out - Go Karting!

Well guys since Christmas is an extremely busy time for the BasketsGalore work team, we decided to have our Christmas Do at another time instead - August!

We arranged to go to the Raceview centre, this is a complex that specialises in Go Kart Racing.

I knew myself this was going to be a competitive sport as most of the employees taking part were male, so us girls had a lot to live up to. If we were going to have any chance of getting into the final we would need to step our driving up a level! Three of us ladies also had to sit it out due to injury, pregnancy & good old fashioned nerves!

We were all given personal numbers so that we could be identified, and to know what heat we were placed in so that everyone got a fair go. During my first heat I was in pole position which I knew I needed to keep if I wanted to do well. However as the first group arrived back in, poor Laura in the Design Team crashed and was winded! The staff were straight over to help her off the track and make sure she was ok. I'm pleased to report that (once recovered) she bravely carried on with the rest of her races, but at a slightly slower pace!

As the laps went on we all had lots of giggles. We had Simon in IT who pushed out the Director, Neil, (this was quite funny!) In return, during my lap with Neil, I was winning and he pushed my kart at the very last second to make me become second (sneaky sneaky!). Honestly this meant war, I was determined then to try and beat him in the next round.... Lynne (the other Director of our company) did extremely well too, she was always in the top 5 whizzing round the corners! Jonny (also in IT) particularly enjoys racing so we knew he'd be good at this sport. Sure enough he was also like dust round the track & had everyone trying to keep up with him!

14 employees of BasketsGalore took part in the event and with 7 heats we finally got round to our final race... To the surprise of Lynne and myself we were the only two females to be in the Grand Final! Now this was going to be fun competing against these top determined males, especially Neil....

So who do you think won?

Well here are the final results:

First- David White
Second - Neil Crozier
Third - Jonny Steele
Fourth - Jade Greenaway (me)
Fifth - Simon White
Sixth - Lynne Forde

The departments making up the final were the Directors, IT, Design & Social Media!

But it's not about who won, it's about the taking part and all of us had a great day!!
