At BasketsGalore you often hear us talking about gift baskets and hampers, and may wonder if there's any difference. When we refer to gift hampers this is mainly to do with the packaging itself i.e the items are housed in a lidded wicker or bamboo hamper whereas a gift basket is an open tray or basket which is then gift wrapped. Sometimes we can just be referring to the contents though as certain items are more gift basket or hamper friendly. Hampers are more traditional or gourmet foods and gift baskets can be fun snacks, fruit, pampering treats or fun games or toys. All very confusing, and not of much concern for all you non-basketeers I'm sure.Gift baskets take more time to create and pack, which is why the Christmas range tend to be in hampers. We have thousands going out during a 3 week period so it's all hands on deck, working long hours in November and December. However, during the rest of the year we try to stay true to our basket name and concentrate on creating really innovative gift baskets for a wide range of occasions such as for birthdays, get well, thank you and congratulations gifts. Our gift baskets are shrink wrapped to keep all the items within safe in transit and then decorated in colourful ribbons and bows. Certain gift baskets also receive a layer of attractive cellophane wrap, such as our luxury baby gift baskets.Ideally we would like to offer this extra gift wrap on baskets of all sizes and budgets and so are currently investigating how achievable this is, both in terms of cost and time taken to produce. We really think it will add even more "Wow" factor & value to our gift baskets and those receiving them. Here's an example of a normally shrink wrapped wine and cheese basket with the added cellophane wrap...what do you think?bow 1
