You've probably read by now about how we're overhauling our gift basket range this summer, and one of the products we are keen to update/add to is our shortbread range.
We've researched a few potential suppliers and the first samples we received were from Furniss Foods, and of particular interest were their Cornish Clotted Cream Shortbread. In the Cornish city of Truro during the late 1880's a master baker named John Cooper Furniss was making his celebrated Fairings, delicious ginger breads and other high class confectionery.
Today the company he founded closely follows some of the original recipes producing traditional biscuits with the same love and care as Mr Furniss did himself. The range now includes this distinctive shortbread made with Cornish clotted cream. It is light and buttery, delicious with tea or coffee and perfect with fruit or ice cream. Furniss prides itself on recreating that fresh 'baked at home' biscuit using quality ingredients and original recipes. Their clotted cream shortbread is created using a thick dollop of thick and creamy Cornish Clotted Cream. Yummy!
These have now been taste tested by all us BGers and put forward as a potential new product for inclusion. Stay tuned to see if they appear in our gift baskets soon and do let us know your thoughts if you've tasted them yourself.
