Mum's Birthday Celebrations & Gift Ideas
We've just been in a meeting discussing ideas for the next video Laura is working on - birthday gift baskets. Neil did a bit of research in advance and discovered the most popular search term when looking for a birthday gift basket is "birthday gift baskets for mums", followed by "for men", then "for sister" and "for friend". We've offered birthday gifts designed by recipient for a number of years now, but plan to build on this even more over the summer. Favourite items for mums include personalised mugs, cards and plaques as well as flowering plants, tea & biscuits, pampering treats or cheese & wine. It was our own mum & colleague Selina's birthday a couple of weeks ago, but having been in receipt of quite a few gift baskets over the years we try to mix things up from year to year. Instead of a basket she got a new purse, vouchers for a posh garden centre, vouchers for a meal out and a wee trip away to a cottage in the mountains (which was a combined Mother's Day gift from big brother.) Not bad eh, and she also treated herself to a birthday present in the form of Shadow the bunny rabbit. If only we were able to send bunnies in baskets, now they would be a best seller!
Instead we can improvise with a different type of cuddly pet friend...Another great idea for a really special birthday gift for mum is to combine a gift basket with a really special item or a few of her favourite things. We do this all the time so as our friends and family don't receive too many of the same things over again. Instead we would create a basket using the majority of BasketsGalore items but then place some earrings inside, or her favourite perfume or chocolates. This will obviously only work if you are getting the gift basket delivered to yourself to pass on, or if you are making your own one up so as you can pop the extras in.However, we have been known to buy special items in for some customers who live abroad, but would like to include something we don't stock in a gift basket. Ones that immediately spring to mind are a diary & picture frame we bought in to add to a smoked salmon & cheese basket for a mums birthday, stacking ring jewellery to add to a sweetie/candy basket for a 21st birthday and a James Bond DVD box set for a dad's combined birthday/Christmas hamper.Please just get in touch if you have a special request such as this & we'll be happy to help when we can.
