We're always on the look out for ways to improve our birthday gift baskets, and last year we began putting the processes in place to design our own Bakery brand. Unfortunately this has hit a bit of a hold up and so in the meantime we're back to sourcing one from either an existing or new supplier or delicious baked goods. In the past we were supplied by a local bakery, but unfortunately they decided to concentrate on larger birthday cakes instead. We  include smaller ones, approx 400g, in our birthday gift baskets as otherwise the cake would take up all the space. Before that we included miniature cakes, but these were more a mouthful size and customers wanted something slightly more substantial.Currently we buy in fruit birthday cakes and also have the option of a chocolate fudge cake we add birthday candles to. We've contacted one of bakery suppliers & now have a brand new tasty "birthday" cake in the 'pipeline' (get it). The cake decorations should also hopefully be interchangeable so as we can offer 'Congratulations' & 'Thank You' cakes too, now wouldn't that be exciting? The only think we're still debating is fruit vs chocolate. Fruit cakes stay fresh for longer, but chocolate cake tastes so good! Which type of birthday cake would you prefer?
