Birthday Fit For A Queen
Yesterday (21st April) saw the arrival of 2 very important birthdays, the Queen's 90th birthday and my Mother-in-Law's birthday!The Queen ended her day of visits & celebrations by being driven through the crowds in an open top car with the Duke Of Edinburgh. Well wishers lined the streets with bouquets of flowers, cards and birthday cakes. Her official cake was baked by Great British Bake Off Winner, Nadiya Hussain, and was an Orange Drizzle Sponge Cake.
Throughout the day she also met other 90 year olds, it is such an impressive milestone to reach.Our birthday gift baskets are particularly popular for those extra special birthdays, and we theme them with age cards, mugs and balloons to help celebrate the milestones. We wonder what the Queen would most like to receive if she got a birthday gift basket? I'm thinking along the tea and cakes line.(BTW: My Mother-in-Law had a slightly more relaxing time, with the day off childminding duties and a lovely birthday tea out.)
