Easter if a perfect gift basket giving occasion and so is a busy time for us at BasketsGalore. The Spring time rush had already begun after our email newsletter was sent out in mid-March & we had a successful Mother's Day at the end of the month. Easter is then hot on it's heels in mid-April so our resident photographer Sylwia set up the in-house studio to take photographs of our new Easter 2014 range.
We feel it is important that we offer our customer new holiday gift baskets from year to year, as we have a lot of returning customers as well as new custom so we like that the recipients will receive a new version of their Easter basket each year.
The Purchasing & Design Team spent time sourcing Easter-themed items perfect for this range and then they create a selection of different Easter baskets. They then give Sylwia the list of items that go into each basket and she then sets them up & photographs them looking their absolute best. She has a digital SLR camera, white backgrounds, lighting and props to help her create the perfect photo.
Many hamper companies have professional photographs taken by an outside agency and then tend to use the same ones from year to year. As we have an in-house trained photographer we are able to keep our product offering completely up-to-date for every upcoming occasion or event.
The image of the product is very important in this line of business as many of our customers never even see the product they purchase. This is because we ship it to the end receiver for them & so they are relying on the website image to be a fair and accurate portrayal of the gift contents. As we take the photographs in-house the exact products and gift baskets are used, so what you see is what you get!
We were actually a little late in taking our Easter photographs this year, because we have been waiting on a special delivery of new chocolate bunnies to arrive - a vital component of our Easter baskets! I will let you in on a secret - their late arrival had my manager a little stressed out! It was funny watching her run up and down asking the warehouse team “Have the bunnies arrived yet?" She was so pleased when Jonny came in and told her they had arrived.
So the bunnies arrived and the photography got under way. I was lucky enough to go into our studio and snap a few pictures of Sylwia while she was also busy snapping away!
Once Sylwia has finished photographing each new basket & contents, she then selects & forwards the best images to the Design Team. They then get to work whitening, adjusting and re-sizing the images so as they are suitable for use on the website.
