Bandon Vale Cheeses
Based in the heart of the rich West Cork dairy region, Bandon Vale initially was set-up to revive the art of cheese making in the traditional style with the manufacture, sale and establishment of a brand of territorial hard cheeses. Over the years the business has diversified and expanded to become a major player in supplying food wholesalers, distributors and retail markets.
The company was set up in 1994 by Andy and Margaret Mahon and over the next decade expanded its facilities as the cheese industry experienced substantial growth. Having established a firm footing in the food ingredients industry and conscious that it was in this area that there were growth opportunities, Bandon Vale installed its first high-tech production line. Soon followed a purpose built production facility, with up to date technology and the highest quality, health and safety standards. With this came a name change to Bandon Vale Cheese Ltd. Since the move the company is enjoying increased capacity, product range and flexibility when new products are sought.
Bandon Vale is set apart by its responsiveness to the needs of the customers, product performance, functionality and highest quality goods.
The products in which our company supply would be the hand pack specialty branded waxed cheese for the hamper and specialty market. The main packing formats include large waxed, 200g waxed, 250g pre-pack, under three Bandon Vale brands. Vintage: a mature cheese with a rich nutty flavour, Murragh: a full flavoured Irish cheddar and Glandór: a mellow flavoured Red Leicester.
The quality of Bandon Vale is committed to providing cheese products of the highest quality standards.
With BRC accreditation, Bandon Vale has achieved the recognized food safety standard “BRC Global Standard for Food Safety (Issue 5 January 2008)” and is dedicated to providing quality products to meet customer’s requirements.
Two of the central goals of the BRC Global Standard are to help and guide retailers as to their legal obligations and more notably, consumer protection. The Standard is continually assessed and revised and requires execution of HACCP; an efficient quality management system; and the control of factory environment standards, products, processes and personnel.
Bandon Vale is also a member of the West Cork Regional Branding Initiative, under the Fuchsia logo. This initiative was set up in 1998 to emphasis, among other things, the distinctiveness of the local goods from the West Cork region and emphasis the product quality.
