In between Mother's Day and Easter we have a little run of orders for St Patrick's Day. St Patrick’s Day is celebrated on 17th March each year as this marks the date of the death of St Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. As well as celebrating St Patrick & the arrival of Christianity into Ireland, it also celebrates Irish heritage and culture. (Wikipedia)It is a national holiday in Ireland, but is also the most widely celebrated national festival around the world as many other countries have strong connections with Ireland with their ancestors originating from here. It's amazing to see all the famous landmarks around the world lighting up green to celebrate. There also tends to be festivals and events running with music, food, drink and parades on the menu.As it's a national holiday there are no deliveries in Ireland on this day as everyone is off work celebrating, so you need to have been organised and ordered in advance. We've seen quite a few of our special St Patrick's Day gift hampers being ordered this week, but many of our other food hampers are also suitable as the majority of the food items we stock are from smaller, artisan producers from around Ireland. We also include some lovely green shredded paper, green ribbon and gift card to really theme them.Although St Patrick's Day falls during Lent, the restrictions are lifted on this day so as people can celebrate to the full so you don't need to worry that they may have given up chocolate or sweet treats either.Do you or you family/friends celebrate St Patrick's Day? If so what are your plans?
