One of our designers Laura recently completed her placement year with us & returned to Queens 'University to undertake her final year. Laura decided to stay with Baskets Galore as well, feeling it would be best keeping in with the design industry as computers and software are always changing and growing. She felt it would be in her best interest to work at least one day a week in the working environment.Laura is now half way through her final year and has completed several pieces of coursework and exams When asked which did she prefer to do she explained the coursework as parts of the coursework were individual and some was group essential were as the exams took her time to read up on all the work she had completed over the months and sometimes it was hard to sit for long periods of time revising.Laura completed four modules in the last term and says she is looking forward to her next term as she will only have two to complete. Not as stressful as first semester hopefully!The four modules Laura studied this term were;
  • CIT (Computing and Information Technology) Project
  • .Net with agile methods - a programming language for web developers
  • Concepts of an operating systems - an in-depth module on Windows & Linux PC operating systems
  • Database systems
Laura commented that the .Net module was the most difficult module from the first term.The two modules she'll complete this term are;
  • Finishing CIT project
  • Software Verification and testing - Testing program functionality and fixing problems/bugs
Laura is hopeful that she will complete these modules to a high standard and can then look forward to graduating in July.LAURAAt Baskets Galore, Laura is currently updating the websites for upcoming events such as Valentine's Day and is also working on uploading our new Gift Basket & Hamper range to the websites.
